Therapy that moves with you

Sometimes a change of setting can make space for something new. Walk-and-talk therapy combines counselling with gentle movement outdoors, offering time to reflect, talk, and reconnect with yourself in a calm, natural environment.
Sessions take place in the peaceful surroundings of Leazes Park in Newcastle, just a short walk from St James Metro station and close to the city centre.
Therapy in Motion: Walking Together, Thinking Together

Walk-and-talk therapy offers the same depth and therapeutic focus as counselling held indoors, while creating space for the gentle benefits of movement and nature.
For some people, being outdoors can make reflection feel easier. Walking can soften the intensity of sitting face to face, reduce the pressure of direct eye contact, and create a more relaxed space where thoughts and feelings may emerge more naturally.
Gentle movement and time in nature can also bring a sense of calm and grounding, helping some people feel more settled, present, and at ease in themselves.
A new perspective

Movement can help shift something internally as well as externally. When life feels stuck, overwhelming, or difficult to untangle, walking can create a subtle sense of momentum, openness, and fresh perspective.
Time outdoors can also provide a sense of renewal. Fresh air, natural light, and connection with nature can relieve mental fatigue, gently lift mood, and support overall well-being.
A sense of calm and connection

Spending time outdoors can gently ease feelings of stress, anxiety, or overwhelm. The natural environment can feel calming and restorative, creating space for reflection, mindfulness, and a greater sense of grounding.
Walking side by side can also make therapy feel less pressured and more natural, allowing conversation to unfold at its own pace in a way that feels comfortable, open, and supportive.
What to expect

Our first session usually takes place online, offering a relaxed space to talk about what brings you to therapy, go over confidentiality, and think together about how walk-and-talk therapy might feel for you. Future sessions can then take place outdoors if that feels supportive.
We can walk at a pace that suits you, whether that’s a gentle stroll, a steady walk, or a session that includes pausing to sit and reflect.
We may follow the same familiar route each week or choose a different path, depending on what feels most comfortable

If the weather isn’t ideal, or if you’d prefer, sessions can be moved online instead.
If we happen to see someone you know, we can pause the conversation, change direction, or simply continue in whatever way feels most comfortable for you. Your sense of privacy and ease matters.

Walk-and-talk sessions are offered in line with professional and ethical guidelines to ensure they remain safe, thoughtful, and supportive.
You’re welcome to explore what matters to you in a way that feels comfortable.
