A little bit about me

Hi, I’m Katrin Kemmerzehl, a qualified and experienced psychotherapeutic counsellor registered with the NCPS.

  • Registered Member, NCPS (MNCPS Acc.)

I moved to Newcastle from Germany over eight years ago and completed a three-year Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.

I’m passionate about helping people live life more fully. I believe there’s something valuable in having a space to talk openly, be yourself, feel listened to, and make sense of what’s going on.

My counselling practice offers a supportive, relaxed space for clients to move beyond survival mode and towards a life that feels more fulfilling.

What I Can Help With

Over the years, I have supported people with anxiety, low mood and depression, stress and burnout, questions around identity, family life and parenting, health-related issues, loss and grief, difficult life experiences, low confidence and self-esteem, relationship difficulties, finding meaning, and life transitions and change.

I also support people navigating neurodiversity, including autism, ADHD and AuDHD. I bring both professional experience and personal understanding to my work, creating a space where you can be yourself, feel understood and talk openly about what’s important to you.

My Counselling Approach

Therapy is flexible, relational and responsive to you. I’m a person-centred, integrative counsellor, drawing on interpersonal, psychodynamic and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), alongside existential ideas. I adapt to what feels most helpful for you as we go.

Sessions are reflective and conversational, with room for curiosity, humour and warmth as we explore together what’s happening and what matters to you.

Being a therapist doesn’t mean having all the answers. My own experience of being a client during my training showed me just how valuable the counselling process can be.

Counselling offers a chance to reconnect with yourself. It can be moving, thought-provoking and freeing, wherever you are in life.

If this resonates, you’re very welcome to get in touch.
