Hi, I’m Katrin Kemmerzehl, a qualified and experienced psychotherapeutic counsellor registered with the NCPS.

I moved to Newcastle from Germany over 8 years ago, and trained for three years at the Northern Guild of Psychotherapy and Counselling.

I am passionate about helping people live life more fully. At the heart of my work are meaningful conversations about what matters, and listening closely to people’s stories.

My counselling practice offers a supportive, relaxed space for clients to move beyond survival mode and towards a life that feels more fulfilling.

Sessions can be a reflective, conversational space, with room for curiosity and humour, as we explore things together at a pace that works for you.

What I Can Help With

Over the years, I have supported people on a wide range of issues, including anxiety, low mood and depression, stress and burnout, identity formation, family building and parenting, health-related issues, loss and grief, challenging life experiences, low confidence and self-esteem, relationship difficulties, finding meaning, and navigating life transitions and changes.

I also work with couples and people navigating neurodiversity, including autism, ADHD and AuDHD. In our sessions, I bring both professional experience and personal understanding, creating a space where you can be yourself and feel understood.

Therapy is flexible and responsive to you. I work in an integrative, relational way, drawing on different approaches, including person-centred and interpersonal therapy, and informed by transactional analysis, psychodynamic and existential ideas. I adapt to what feels most helpful for you as we go.

Being a therapist doesn’t mean I have all the answers. I’m human and a work in progress too, and life has a way of surprising us. But, I’ve been
in the ‘client role’ myself as part of my training, which has given me a deeper understanding of how powerful this process can be.

Counselling offers a chance to reconnect with yourself. It can be moving, thought-provoking, and freeing, wherever you are in life. I’ll meet you where you are and support you on your journey.

If this resonates with you, you’re welcome to get in touch.
